Leona Irene Asher-Reed

Leona Irene Asher-Reed of Pilot Knob, MO went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 8, 2021 at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 5 days. She was born on January 3, 1929 in Chloride, MO to the late Cecil Edwin and Zola Polly Lewis Sutton. In November of 1950 Leona was united in marriage to Leo Junior Asher who preceded her in rest in August of 1990. To this union four children were born; Bruce Asher and wife Marlene of Arcadia, Ken Asher and wife Susan of Columbia, MO, Mark Asher of Little Rock, AR all who survive, and David Asher who preceded in rest. Also surviving Leona are 10 grandchildren; Jennifer, Julie, Jamie, Christine, Morgan, Jordan, Noah, Isaac, Samuel, and Anna, eighth great-grandchildren, and many other loving family members and friends. On February 25, 2006, Leona was united in marriage to her and Leo's long-time friend Roy Reed who preceded her in rest on July 2, 2020. In addition to her parents, husbands, and son, David, Leona was preceded in rest by a brother Cecil Owen Sutton, and three sisters; Opal Zerr, Elizabeth Sutton, and Bertha Lamb. Throughout her loving and amazing life, Leona worked several different jobs to help support her family; she worked many years for Emerson Electrical in a clerical position through WWII, she worked as a teacher for a year, she was the clerical worker for the Director of Nursing for the Baptist Home, and raised four of the finest boys anyone has ever met. Leona was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ironton, a member of the W.M.U., she was a longtime Sunday School Teacher and youth leader, in her younger years she was an avid and skilled bowler, and she loved her Lord Jesus Christ. Leona was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, Christian, and friend who will missed and loved by all who were blessed to have her in their life. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 12:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Ironton. Visitation for Leona will be Saturday, March 13, 2021 beginning at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Ironton. Interment will follow the services in the Big Creek Cemetery in Glover, MO. Pastor Ryan Nichols will be officiating the services. **Social distancing and facemasks are highly recommended due to the Covid-19 pandemic**
