Irene Tilley

Irene Tilley of Bismarck, MO, entered into Heaven on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 with her loving family by her side, at the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 11 days. She was born November 25, 1932 in Ironton, MO to the late Jackson and Bertha (Jones) Morris. On August 2, 1952, Irene was united in marriage to Charles Tilley who preceded her in rest on August 4, 2015. To this union five children were born, Patricia Radford and husband Randall of Festus, MO, Dorothy Stebleton of Ironton, MO, Marcia Politte and husband Bob of Potosi, MO, Thomas Tilley of Dittmer, MO, and Lisa Matzker and husband Michael of Hillsboro, MO, all of whom survive. Also surviving are two step-children, Charles Tilley and wife Deanna of St. Peters, MO, and Michael Tilley of O'Fallon, MO, nine grandchildren, Angela, Jennifer, Melissa, Nicole, Tommy, Josh, Cody, Mason, and Blair; two step-grandchildren, Kendall and Kimberly, nine great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, three brothers, Charlie Morris of DeSoto, MO, Jim Morris of Arkansas, and Bill Morris of Ironton, MO; two sisters, Betty Rudzek of Marquand, MO and Joyce Brown of Bald Knob, AR, and many more loving family members and friends. Irene is preceded in rest by her parents, her husband Charles, two brothers Tom Morris and Jack Morris, and a son-in-law Steve Stebleton. For 29 years Irene worked for Emerson Electric in Quality Control to help support her family. Irene was a faithful and devoted member of the Iron Mountain Assembly of God, and a past member of the First Assembly of God in Hillsboro, MO. She was a true believer in the power of prayer and she wasn’t ashamed to tell the world, because she knew it worked! Irene was the true definition of a prayer warrior and when someone needed help with anything, Irene went to the Lord first and foremost. There are few people left in the world who believed and trusted in the Lord like Irene did, but she made sure her family, her children especially, would be the ones to carry on her legacy in following the Lord. Irene loved her family and friends like no other, her love and caring nature made her the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother one could ever ask for. Irene Tilley will be missed by all who were blessed to know and loved her, and she had a message for you all: “If I never see you again on this side, I want a promise from all of you: that you will meet me on the other side in Heaven, cause that’s where it counts.” ~Irene A Visitation for Irene will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, beginning at 5:00 pm and lasting until 8:00 pm from the Cole Family Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, beginning at 11:00 am from the Cole Family Chapel. Interment will follow the services in the Pendleton Cemetery in Doe Run, MO. Rev. Matt Prihoda will be officiating the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations may be made to the Pendleton Cemetery in Irene’s honor.
