Gwendolyn Jones

Gwendolyn Jones of Ironton, MO, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the age of 79 Years, 7 Months, and 19 Days. She was born October 9, 1944, in Middlebrook, MO to the late John F. and Anna G. (Hurt) Jones. On February 27, 1971, Gwendolyn was united in marriage to the love of her life James Edward Jones who precedes her in rest on October 10, 2017. To this union Gwen gained a loving daughter, Rebecca Ilene Hansen of Ironton, MO who survives. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Slone Clevenger and Fury Clevenger, two great-grandchildren, Jacklynne and Serenity, her special niece who took care of her, Jackie Archer and husband Rusty, three sisters-in-law, Arlene Jones, Judy Jones, and April Jones-Wharton; and many more loving family members and friends. Gwen is preceded in rest by her parents, her husband James, four brothers, Clifford Jones, Chuck Jones, Carl Jones, and Jewell Jones; and five sisters, Pauline Mathis, Betty Mathis, Ilene McClure, Doris Bone, and an infant sister Oma Jones. For many years Gwen worked as a waitress for the Kozy Korner where she so enjoyed serving people and making friends laugh and smile. She also worked as a waitress at the Plain and Fancy Bed and Breakfast, she worked for the FDA as a meat inspector, she ran a Hot Shot service in the oil fields with James, and also owned and operated a hardware store in Braymer, MO with James. These were just a few jobs she had over the years, but none as important as being the loving and supportive wife and mother she was. She loved her family with all of her heart and would do whatever she could to help them. Gwen Jones was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. A Visitation will be held for friends and family to gather on Thursday, May 30, 2024, beginning at 5:00 pm and lasting until 8:00 pm from the Cole Family Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, beginning at 1:00 pm from the Cole Family Chapel. Interment will follow the services in the Iron Mountain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to be made to Heart and Soul Hospice in Gwendolyn's honor.
