Clifton "Cliff"" L. Rutter

Clifton “Cliff” Leon Rutter of Annapolis, MO, entered into rest on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the age of 80 years, 7 months, and 23 days. He was born March 3, 1943, in Annapolis, MO, a son of the late Kenneth and Opal (Griggs) Rutter. Surviving Cliff are a son, Charles Leon Rutter, three brothers, Roger Rutter and wife Connie of Annapolis, MO, Paul Rutter and wife Effie of Ironton, MO, Jack Rutter and wife Edith of Annapolis, MO; one sister, Virginia “Jenny” Merla Rapps of Swensea, IL, his special friend Reba Savage of Ironton, MO, and many more loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Cliff is preceded in rest by his parents, two children, Clifton Rutter, Jr. and Ace Rutter, and four brothers, William “Bill” Rutter, James “Jim” Rutter, Allen “Al” Rutter, and Kenneth “Bud” Brian Rutter. For many years Cliff worked hard as a carpenter and in the oil fields to support his family. He was also a member of the Shriners organization, past two-time Master in the Hopewell Masonic lodge #239, a charter member of the Eagles lodge in Piedmont, MO, and a member of the Annapolis Church of the Nazarene. Cliff was a kind and caring man who loved his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his special and caring friend, Reba. He always greeted you with a smile and a firm, yet caring handshake. He always had a good story to tell, sound advice for the younger generation, and always had kind words of encouragement in trying times for those hurting. He also cared for and took pride in keeping the Rutter Cemetery looking beautiful. Cliff Rutter will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. A Visitation for friends and family to gather will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, beginning at 5:00 pm and lasting until 8:00 pm from the Cole Family Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be held on Monday evening at 7:00 pm with visitation resuming once finished. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, beginning at 11:00 am from the Cole Family Chapel. Interment will follow the services in the Rutter Cemetery. Rev. Howard Casteel will be officiating the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rutter Cemetery in Cliff’s honor.
