Hattie Ellen Bullis of Ironton, MO, passed away March 6, 2013 in Presbyterian Manor at the age of 89 years. She was born April 27, 1923 in Pilot Knob, MO a daughter of the late Thomas Henry Miller and Katie Spitzmiller Miller. On Dec. 21, 1940 she was united in marriage to Leroy Bullis who preceded her in death on March 23, 2003. To this union was born three children; James H. Bullis and wife Nancy of Farmington, William C. Bullis and wife Kathy of Marquand, and Gerald Lee Bullis who preceded her in death. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren, Alexandra, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, James, Aaron, and Diana; 9 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry Miller and Hadley, Frances, Robert, and Ernest Mayes, and one sister Marjorie Mayes Weston. Hattie was a member of the first Baptist Church of Ironton, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary ,the Ironton chapter Order of the Eastern Star , W.M.U. and Volunteered as a reading mentor for Farmington Grade Schools. During WWII, while her husband Leroy was serving in the Army Air Force as a Ball Turret Gunner in B-17s, she worked at the Small Arms Plant in St. Louis making 50 cal. Ammunition for him to use. Both working together to do their part. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 10 at 2 PM from Cole Family Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Boeving officiating. Visitation will begin Sun. at 12 Noon. Interment will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Manor or First Baptist Church of Ironton.
