Duwaine Larry Kniess Sr.

Duwaine Larry Kniess Sr. of Iron Mountain, MO passed away March 12, 2012 at Crocker Country Living in Lesterville at the age of 84 years, 7 months, and 7 days. He was born Aug. 5, 1927 in Newald, Wisc, a son of the late Royal Gilbert Sr. and Grace Elvira Davis Kniess. On Jan 15, 1949 he was united in marriage to Georgia Evelyn Ballentine in Granite City, IL, who survives. To tis union was born 5 children, Elaine Edwards of Poplar Bluff, Duwaine Jr. and Wife Lana, Barbara King and husband Gary, and Rose Kinesse all of Bismarck, MO and Sandra Becker and friend Gary Matthews of Fredericktown. Also surviving are a brother Irwin Kniess of Newald, Wisc., 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Willard, Ray, Ashton, and Victor Kniess, two sisters, Eldora Norris an Beverly Klahn, and one grandson. Duwaine was a retired Iron Ore Miner, and during WW II he served his Country in the United States Army. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed camping trips with his family. Funeral services were held on Thurs. at 11 Am from the Cole Family Funeral Home in Ironton, with Rev. Noel Moody officiating.
