Dorothy Ann Cox, of Arcadia, MO went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 29, 2021 at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 10 days. She was born July 19, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, MO a daughter of the late Fritz and Marilda Brehmer Koenig. On August 23, 1964 Dorothy was united in marriage to Will Scott who preceded her in rest on January 5, 1985. To this union two children survive; Jonathan Scott of Arcadia, MO, and Betsy (Corby) Turner of Arcadia, MO. After Will's passing, Dorothy was united in marriage to Randall Cox on October 25, 1985; Randall preceded her in rest on February 3, 2020. To this union Dorothy gained two loving daughters who survive; Lisa (Neil) Fitzgerald of Middle Brook, MO, and Carla Cox of Festus, MO. In addition to her children, Dorothy is survived by four grandchildren; Libby, Douglas, Ryan, and Elisha, three great-grandchildren; Hannah, Ezra, and Isaac, and many more loving family members, friends, and students. Mrs. Cox, as she was known by most of the residents and past students of the Arcadia Valley, graduated from Cape Central High School in 1959 and went on to obtain her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics education from Southeast Missouri State University. Following her education, Mrs. Cox began her teaching career, teaching Home Economics at Arcadia Valley, which lasted 31 years before her "retirement". Her "retirement" consisted of substitute teaching for 19 years, but she loved being an educator and it showed when she worked with students. In total, Mrs. Cox was a 50 year teacher for the Arcadia Valley school district. Her time and dedication to education will never be forgotten and will always be appreciated. Dorothy was an active member of the community in her free time; she was a member of the Iron County Historical Society, Mina Sauk Club, Society of Sisters, Order of the Eastern Star, Study Group, Treasurer of the Masonic Cemetery, Bridge Club, Bunco Group, a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, and worked many years at Green Thumb Plants. Mrs. Cox will be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Cox will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 beginning at 11:00 am from the Cole Family Chapel. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 beginning at 5:00 pm. Interment will follow the services in the Masonic Cemetery in Ironton, MO. Elder Mark Sutton and Jonah Scott will be officiating the services. Memorials are requested to the Masonic Cemetery of Ironton. Online condolences may be made at www.colefamilyfuneralhomes.com
