Carrie May McClanahan Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carrie May McClanahan of Pilot Knob,MO went to the Good Lord on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Missouri Baptist Hospital at the age of 78 years, 8 months, and 22 days. She was born September 12, 1937 in Frankclay, MO, a daughter of John and Ella Mabel (Gilliam) Strange. She and Elmer McClanahan were united in marriage on February 27th, 1954 in Bismarck, MO. He passed away on April 10, 1971. She continued to raise her three sons and a daughter; Ron McClanahan of Farmington, MO, Don (Carmen) McClanahan of Ironton, MO, Alan (Dawn) McClanahan of Ironton, MO and Betty (Joe) Spalding of Scott City, MO. She was a loved grandmother to Ron (Carolyn) McClanahan, Sara McClanahan, Donnie (Rebecca) McClanahan, Andrew (Heather) McClanahan, Molly McClanahan (Jeremy Lukefahr), Gavin Spalding, Jeremy (Bethany) Watson, Elissa Watson, and Marissa Aggas. She is also survived of 13 great grandchildren; Autumn & Ella McClanahan, Olivia & Nora McClanahan, Andrea & Levi McClanahan, Ray, Aurora, & Brantley Watson, Nicholas, Vincent, Eli Watson, and was excitedly awaiting baby girl Lukefahr, a brother John Strange, a special friend, Kenny Coley, and was especially close to her sisters-in-law; Wilma, Norma, Ruth Ann, Paula, Doris, and Dianne. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers; Jimmie, Kenny, & Theodore “Ted” Strange, a sister, Audrey Hampton, and a great granddaughter, Olivia. Carrie had a special way of caring for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a special gift for gardening, sewing, quilting and caring for others. She was an active member of the Arcadia Valley United Methodist Church in Ironton, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, TYRO Chapter 321, Caledonia. She was a blessing to anyone who knew her, and will be sadly missed. Visitation will be at the Cole Family Funeral Home in Ironton on Monday, June 6th, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The funeral will be on Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 at 11:00am at the Arcadia Valley United Methodist Church in Ironton with the Reverend Marty Blakely officiating, and interment following at the Hamilton Cemetery in Bismarck, MO. Memorial may be made in her memory to Arcadia Valley United Methodist Church, Ironton, MO.
