Tom Waddell

Tom Waddell of Ironton, MO entered paradise on March 3, 2022 at the age of 72 years, 10 months, and 27 days. He was born April 6, 1949 in Pocahontas, AR to the late Cleo Waddell and Hazel Johnson Waddell. On December 28, 1971, Tom was united in marriage to Janet Witcher who survives after 50 wonderful and blessed years. To this union five beautiful children were born, Tommie Waddell, Jr. and wife Andrea of Barnhart, MO, Amanda Day and husband Scott of Ironton, MO, Catherine Wayment and husband Joel of Goodlettsville, TN, Adam Waddell and wife Jennifer of Ironton, MO, and Alyssa Anderson and husband Cody of Henderson, KY, all of whom survive. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, Mary Catherine and husband Garrett, Austin and wife Makayla, Grant and wife Tarryn, Colton, Harrison, Justin, Kirsten, Emmaline and husband Jake, Aubrey, Dallin, Lucas, Lexi, Marcus, Sophie, and Ellie; four great-grandchildren, Jaren, Emberlyn, Kyson, Bentley, with one on the way; one sister Brenda Ward and husband Carl of Imboden, AR, a sister-in-law Phyllis Waddell of Springdale, AR, a brother-in-law “Bomer” Medlock of Little Rock, AR, a sister-in-law Donna Thacker and husband Steve of Hot Springs, AR, and many more loving family members and friends. He is preceded in rest by his parents, two brothers Cleo Waddell and Ligie Waddell, and two sisters Leona Loftis and Mary Medlock. After graduating from high school Tom went on to graduate from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education. After receiving his degree Tom went on to teach and be an extremely successful coach for 13 years, and later went on to sell insurance for United American. All while working and raising his family, Tom did not sit still and was incredibly active in his community. In 1988 he started and was a member of the Arcadia Valley Little Dribblers, now known as Arcadia Valley Youth Basketball League; he coached and refereed in the program from its beginning in 1988 until 2006. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Farmington, MO. Tom also served on the Arcadia Valley School Board for 20+ years, held multiple positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fredericktown and Farmington, and was his children and grandchildren’s biggest fan when it came to their sports and activities. He loved his family, his church, and sports. The memory of Tom will be cherished by all who were blessed to love him and call him a friend. A Visitation for Tom will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 beginning at 4:00 pm and lasting until 8:00 pm from the Cole Family Funeral Home in Ironton, MO. A Celebration of Life for Tom will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Farmington, MO beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow the services in the Parkview Cemetery in Ironton, MO.
