Shirley Joyce Henry

Shirley Joyce Henry, of Ironton, MO, went home to Heaven on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 21 days. She was born April 4, 1938, in Roselle, MO, to the late Leo Lawrence and Eileen Robbs-Tremmel. On May 27, 1956, Shirley was united in marriage to James Phillip Henry who preceded her in rest on June 3, 2016. To this union four daughters were born, Lisa Turnbough and husband Rod of Columbia, MD, Laurie Braun and husband Joe of Farmington, MO, the late Lynette Pouliezos and her husband who survives, Pat, of Bonne Terre, MO, and Lana Conner and husband Mark of Ironton, MO. Also surviving Shirley are eight grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, Katie, Lauren, Michael, Rachel, Kristen, and Adrienne; 20 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, one brother David Tremmel of Hazelwood, MO, two sisters, Jan Markham and husband Ron of Georgia, and Joyce Child and husband Duncan of California, and many more loving family members and friends. She is preceded in rest by her parents Leo and Eileen, her step-father Harry Tremmel, her husband James Phillip Henry, a daughter Lynette Pouliezos, one grandchild, Billy Ames, and a sister Jill Tremmel. After graduating from high school, Shirley worked hard to obtain her Master's Degree in Counseling from Southeast Missouri University and worked as a psychologist/counselor in her own practice for many years until her retirement in 2013. She helped countless people over the span of her career; she became much more to her patients than just a counselor, she became a friend and someone who could be trusted. Shirley also loved going to church, and was a member of the God's Country Cowboy Church in Fredericktown. Shirley Henry showed love and compassion to all she knew, and took great joy in showing that love. Her family was her center, she did all she could for them with every ounce of love she had. She was the definition of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, Christian, and friend. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, beginning at 2:00 pm from the Cole Family Funeral Home. A Visitation for friends and family to gather will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, beginning at 12:00 pm and lasting until 2:00 pm from the Cole Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow the services in the Sebastian Cemetery in Fredericktown, MO. Pastor Steve Francis will be officiating the services. In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to God's Country Cowboy Church or the Baptist Home in Shirley's honor.
