Sara Elizabeth Yates

Sara Elizabeth Yates, of Ironton, MO, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the age of 61 years, 9 months, and 8 days. She was born July 22, 1963, a daughter of the late Robert “Bob” McHenry and Ruth (Jones) Pautler who survives. On June 1, 1991, Sara was united in marriage to Michael “Mike” Yates who preceded her in rest on November 2, 2023. Surviving Sara are her mother, Ruth Pautler of Cape Girardeau, MO, her two sons, Mark Jackson and wife Kayleigh of Ironton, MO, and Jay Jackson and wife Sara of Cape Girardeau, MO, seven grandchildren, Malachi, Kynnedy, Lyla, Nolan, Elliana, Arya, and Nora; one sister, Amy McHenry of Rolla, MO, and many more loving family members and friends. Sara is preceded in rest by her father, Bob McHenry, her loving husband, Mike Yates, and her step-father Paul Pautler. As a young woman, Sara worked as an administrative assistant for AP&L (Arkansas Power & Light), and then for Union Electric once they changed. Sara worked hard in her role with the company and never left a task uncompleted. She knew the value of hard work and passed that to her children. After her time with Union Electric, she and Mike became campground hosts at Johnson Shut In’s State Park. There they would make many friends together, make lasting memories, and simply enjoy their time together, except when Mike was making her camp in the winter, she didn’t enjoy that as much. She was a loving mother figure to all her son’s friends and always greeted them with a smile and a hug. Sara was a former member of the Arcadia Valley Country Club and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ironton. Sara was the definition of a loving mother and grandmother, devoted wife, and perfect friend. Sara Elizabeth Yates will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. A Visitation for friends and family to gather will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am and lasting until 1:00 pm from the First Presbyterian Church of Ironton. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, beginning at 1:00 pm from the First Presbyterian Church of Ironton.
