Melva Jean Williams

Melva Jean Williams of Annapolis, MO, entered into rest on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 93 Years, 3 Months, and 7 Days. Melva was born May 29, 1929 in Rector, Arkansas to the late Roscoe and Addie (Merritt) Barker. On March 8, 1947 Jean was united in marriage to Wheeler Williams who preceded her in rest in October of 2012. To this union four children were born, Ronnie Williams of St. Robert, MO, Marsha Lane and husband Bill of Annapolis, MO, Dan Williams and wife Debbie of Farmington, MO, and Timothy Williams and wife Carol of Annapolis, MO, all of whom survive. Also surviving Jean are seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, a brother Rev. Fred Barker and wife Carolyn of Rector, AR, and many more loving family members and friends. She is preceded in rest by her parents, her husband Wheeler, a daughter-in-law Janet Williams, and three sisters, Lucille McNamara, Geri Bowen, and Sue Saunders. For many years, Jean owned and operated her own beautician business and worked as a secretary for her husband Wheeler's autobody shop to help support their family. Also while working, Jean was an active member in her church, the First Baptist Church of Annapolis. She was a strong and faithful Christian for over 70 years who volunteered many hours to teaching children and adults in Sunday School, leading V.B.S., teaching in many different capacities in church, being a member of the Women's Missionary Union (WMU) through the Southern Baptist Convention, and was a strong and dependable Prayer Warrior. She was also a canning and crocheting expert, and a hummingbird enthusiast. Jean will be missed by all who were blesses to know and love her. A Visitation for Melva Jean will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm from the Cole Family Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 beginning at 10:00 am from the First Baptist Church in Annapolis, MO. Rev. Dan Pitcher will be officiating the services. Interment will follow the services in the Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector, AR. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the International Mission Board through the First Baptist Church of Annapolis or online.
