Mary Collins Stricklin

Mary C. Stricklin of Ironton, MO, entered into rest on Monday, January 1, 2024, at the age of 73 years, 2 months, and 13 days. She was born October 19, 1950, in Ironton, MO, to the late Albert and Roberta (Ringo) Collins. On February 14, 1976, Mary was united in marriage to James “Jim” Stricklin, Sr. who survives. To this union two children were born, Jim Stricklin, II and wife Trisha of Ironton, MO, and Nicole Mack and husband Matthew of Ironton, MO, both of whom survive. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jimmy, III, Jerry, Jesse, and Jordyn; two brothers AJ Collins of Farmington, MO, and Pete Thompson of Belleville, IL, and many more loving family members and friends. Mary is preceded in rest by her parents, two brothers, Dennis Collins and Doug Thompson, and three sisters, Diane Koenig, Ann Thomas, and Ellen Rodgers. For 40 years, Mary worked along-side Jim in their business, the Stricklin Trucking Company, in many different roles. She was their secretary and treasurer, and was involved in everything in the company. She was also very active in their other family business which included the auto body shop, the salvage yard, and the trash service business. If there was work to be done, you could bet Mary was involved and working to make it the best. She was also a licensed beautician and worked beside her daughter in the Hey Goodlookin’ Salon for four years. Mary was a member of the Ste. Marie du Lac Catholic Church in Ironton. She loved her church and loved Mass. She was a devout Catholic until recently when her health wouldn’t allow her to attend in person, so she watched Mass live on tv or the internet. Her health wasn’t going to stop her or her faith from worshipping. Mary loved her family deeply. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her family, and that was one of the many things that made Mary such a sweet, good person. She always had a story to tell about one of her kids or grandkids, she always had a smile accompanied by hug, and she always had time for those whom she loved. Mary Stricklin will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, beginning at 10:00 am, from the Ste. Marie du Lac Catholic Church in Ironton, MO.
