Joyce Marie Griggs

Joyce Marie Griggs, of Annapolis, MO, entered into Heaven on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the age of 74 Years, 11 Months, and 7 Days. She was born May 21, 1950, in Annapolis, MO, to the late Clyde Ray and Doris Maude (Stevens) Alcorn. On May 16, 1970, Joyce was united in marriage to John Paul Griggs who preceded her in rest on November 6, 2020. Surviving Joyce are three children, Shaner Kelley and wife Patty of Annapolis, MO, Elizabeth Chadbourne and husband Scott of Piedmont, MO, and Amanda Propst and fiancé Rich Miller of Annapolis, MO; five grandchildren, Krista, Korey, Ayla, A.J., and Alexander; seven great-grandchildren, Aron, Greg, Wyatt, Cora, Dawson, Mason, and Gus; one brother, Willis Alcorn and loving companion Ginny of Des Arc, MO, two sisters, Donna Deboard and husband Gary of Annapolis, MO, and Connie Pinkley of Roselle, MO, a sister-in-law Sheila Alcorn of Annapolis, MO, a brother-in-law Sam Eggers of Fenton, MO, and many more loving family members and friends. Joyce is preceded in rest by her parents, her husband John, two brothers, Robert Alcorn and Roger Alcorn, two sisters, Melba Eggers and baby sister Bonnie Alcorn, and a brother-in-law Lee Pinkley. For many years, Joyce worked in the Iron County Abstract Office. She began working for Mr. Edgar and continued to work until her last retirement just recently. When she wasn't working in the office, she was serving her church, The First Baptist Church of Annapolis, where she served as Treasurer and Secretary for 40 years, she could also be found working in her flower garden and vegetable garden or spending time with her family and friends. She had a love-language that was shared with many, and that was cooking with love. She loved cooking for all her family. She would make sure all who walked through her door knew they were welcomed, loved, and had a place at her dining table. She always had a dish of candy when you walked in the door, always had the pantry stocked and ready for guests, and refreshing ice cream for a hot summer day. Joyce was always full of light and a loving smile, even when she wasn't feeling well. She would push through the sickness just to show love and kindness to her family and friends. Joyce Marie Griggs was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. A Visitation for friends and family to gather will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, beginning at 5:00 pm and lasting until 8:00 pm from the Cole Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 5, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am from the Cole Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow the services in the Huff Cemetery in Annapolis, MO. Rev. Eugene Alcorn and Rev. Mike Harrison will be officiating the services. Memorials may be made to the Huff Cemetery.
