Joseph "Bud" Lawson

Rev. Joseph Melvin "Bud" Lawson was carried into Heaven by his grandson, Buddy at the age 89 Years, 1 Months, and 29 Days. He was born June 29, 1934, in Washington County, MO to the late Joseph Boston and Nora (Vance) Lawson. On August 6, 1955, “Bud” or “Brother Bud” as he was known by many who knew and loved him, was united in marriage to love of his life, Jane (Jones) Lawson who survives. To this union five children were born, Connie Lawson of Belleview, MO, Blaine Lawson and wife Vicki of Fredericktown, MO, Lyrissa and husband Dr. Richard Snitzer of St. Peters, MO, Brock Lawson of Belleview, MO, all of whom survive, and Baby Lawson who preceded Bud in rest in infancy. Also surviving Bud are six grandchildren, Casey and husband Bob Tournbaugh, Kylie Thurmound, Chris and Libby Woods, Jodi and Billy Ely, Bradley Joseph and Sierra Besemer, and Carli Besemer; nine great-grandchildren, Nolan, Nora Jane, Brody, Easton, Maggie, Colton Blaine, Cora, Raylan Joseph, and Jayden; and many more loving family members, church family members, and friends. Bud is preceded in rest by his parents, a grandson Buddy Thurmond, ten brothers, Jim Lawson, Nelson Lawson, Pat Lawson, Rueben Lenis Lawson, Espin Lawson, John Lawson, Clifford Lawson, Earl Lawson, Ruben Lawson, and Sam Lawson; and ten sisters, Lucy Sansegraw, Marcella Woods, Josephine Evans, Hester Woods, Ruby Winick, Ethel Morgan, Delores Woods, Ann Parmley, Marie Skiles, and Mildred Joyce King. Brother Bud was a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. He lived the life of a preacher and a man of God without question. He loved God so much, he put his home and church, The Banner Full Gospel Temple, next together. He was the definition of prayer warrior, and if Bro. Bud was praying for you, you had a direct line to God and that prayer was heard. He loved sharing the word of God and he didn’t do it because it was his job, he did it because it was his calling and he was not going to say no to God. He knew the world needed to hear the Word and God needed his help to spread it; and spread it did he ever! For most of Bud’s life he preached the Word and prayed for many people. There are many stories about how Bud prayed for someone, and their life was changed after that prayer. Bro. Bud loved his family very much. His children and grandchildren were everything to him. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wonderful wife, Jane. His extended family was just as close to him as his next of kin, and he loved them just as deeply. If you were family or close friends to Bud, you were loved and prayed for, daily. Brother Bud is no longer sick and is in no more pain, but reborn and renewed! His love and devotion to the Lord God has been rewarded with that great promise! He now walks in Heaven with his family before him. His parents and his grandson, Buddy are now showing him their new home, together. Amen. Rev. Joseph Melvin “Bud” Lawson will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. A Visitation for Bro. Bud will be held on Wednesday August 30, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Banner Full Gospel Temple in Belleview, MO. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday August 31, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Banner Full Gospel Temple in Belleview, MO. Rev. Dwight Jones will be officiating the services. Interment will follow the services in the Layne Cemetery in Park Hills, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Layne Cemetery in Brother Bud’s honor.
