Ernest "Junior" Jerome Sutton Jr.

Ernest “Junior” Jerome Sutton, Jr., of Annapolis, MO, entered into rest on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 8 days. He was born March 27, 1931, in Annapolis, MO to the late Ernest J. Sr. and Maude (Scaggs) Sutton. On February 26, 1954, Junior was united in marriage to Wanda Rose (Mann) Sutton who preceded him in rest on December 26, 2014. To this union two children were born, Tammy Tucker of Annapolis, Mo, and Jerry Dale Sutton of Annapolis, MO, both of whom survive. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Adam, Andi, Bayle, and Clayton; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Emmy, and many more loving family members and friends. Junior is preceded in rest by his parents, his wife Wanda, four brothers, James Sutton, Dale Sutton, Donald Sutton, and Fred Sutton; and one sister Eula Sedovic. Junior served his country in the United States Air Force, and after his service, he worked for the Asarco Company for 26 years. He also worked for Proctor and Gamble for 12 years, served the Annapolis community as Mayor for 14 years, was a long-time member of the South Iron School Board, Volunteer Fire Fighter for many years, a member of the South Iron Community Betterment Association, a member of the South East Regional Planning Commission, the Annapolis Memorial Scholarship Board member, one of the original EMT’s and EMT Instructor in Annapolis, a long-time member of the Happy Zion General Baptist Church, choir director for 45 years, church board member, Annapolis Cemetery Association board member, an avid South Iron Panther fan, and any other organization he could help to serve his community. Junior never met a stranger and loved talking with people. He loved helping people and serving his community, and he did everything with a thankful and giving heart. Junior Sutton will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. A Visitation for friends and family to gather will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, beginning at 5:00 pm and lasting until 8:00 pm from the Cole Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, beginning at 11:00 am from the Happy Zion General Baptist Church in Annapolis, MO. Rev. Mark Winn will be officiating the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Happy Zion General Baptist Church in Junior’s honor.
