Darlene Elizabeth Reichert

Darlene Elizabeth Reichert, of Arcadia, MO, went home to Heaven on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 28 days. She was born April 23, 1935, in Palatine, IL, to the late Louis and Elizabeth (Douglas) Stirts. In April of 1954, Darlene was united in marriage to John Monroe Reichert who preceded her in rest on December 3, 1999. To this union three children were born, Lisa Reichert of Arcadia, MO who survives, Butch Reichert and wife Debbie of Ironton, MO who survives, and Gary Joseph Reichert who preceded her in rest on August 8, 1982. Other survivors include three grandchildren, Matthew Reichert and wife Sara of Columbia, MO, Seth Reichert and wife Melanie of Arnold, MO, and Andrew Reichert of Ironton, MO; six great-grandchildren, Amara, Keyleigh, Nicole, Talan, Oliver, and Brooks; a special nephew Bud Stirts, her faithful and loving dog Bailey, and many more loving family members and friends. Darlene is also preceded in rest by three brothers, Guy Stirts, Luther Stirts, and William “Bill” Stirts; two sisters Anita Sundeen and Edna Stirts, a niece-in-law Melba Stirts, and a nephew Mickey Stirts. As a child Darlene attended and graduated from Ironton High School. She later went on to work as a cook for Arcadia Valley Elementary and worked for AV until her retirement. When she wasn’t busy with feeding hundreds of children, she could be found volunteering her time to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary which she was a member for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the Ste. Marie du Lac Catholic Church in Ironton. Darlene was one of the greatest cooks around and absolutely loved to cook, and it was more than a hobby, it was her passion, and she poured a lot of love into each dish and meal. Cooking was her passion, but she loved her grandchildren even more, she loved them more than anything. Darlene’s life was full of love and dedication to her family and community. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. A Visitation for friends and family to gather will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, beginning at 9:00 am and lasting until 10:30 am from the Cole Family Chapel. A Mass celebrating Darlene’s life will be held following Visitation on Friday, August 23, 2024, beginning at 11:00 am from the Ste. Marie du Lac Catholic Church. Interment will follow the services in the Arcadia Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the VFW in Darlene’s honor.
