Barbara Hellen Wadlow

Loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend Barbara (Barb) Helen Reed Wadlow’s love for life came to a close on October 9, 2023 at the age of 91. She was born on April 17, 1932 in Minimum, Missouri to Arthur and Lola Reed. Growing up on Marble Creek, Barb spent a lot of time with her family. She was blessed with many siblings to experience the joys and adventures of life alongside. On September 27, 1948 she was united in marriage to Dorse Wadlow. Together they were blessed with five children. As a family they enjoyed traveling to music festivals as the Wadlow Family Bluegrass Band. She also loved her kitchen and was well known for her mastery skills. Everyone delighted in eating Barb’s baked goods, like her coconut cream or lemon meringue pie. She kept bountiful gardens filled with the richest vegetables and most beautiful flowers. After retirement, Barb and Dorse loved to travel and spent many winters in the state of Florida. She enjoyed collecting sea shells and rocks. Yet, Barb always cherished coming back home to Ironton, Missouri continuing to make memories with those she loved. She and Dorse were faithful members of the First Baptist Church of Iron Mountain. Barb is survived by her sisters: Mildred Stotler, Ruth Jones, and Judy Warren; her brother: Gary Reed; her children: Janice Duncan, Craig Wadlow, and Robert Wadlow (Kim); daughters in law: Carolyn Wadlow and Adalee Wadlow; her grandchildren: Amanda, Brian, Jessie, Cody, Alex, Rachel, and Kelly; many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchild, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Barb is preceded in death by her husband: Dorse Wadlow; her parents: Arthur and Lola Reed; sisters: Nadine Pogue, Dorine Clubb, Lois Montgomery, and her twin, Mary Ellen Reed; her brother Obie Reed; her children: Dennis Wadlow and Phil Wadlow; her son in law: Ron Duncan, her grandchild: Cheri Chard. Barb was best known for her positive outlook on life, her spunk, her faithfulness, and her kind heart. A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Barb’s life on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 10 A.M. at Cole Family Funeral Home in Ironton, Missouri. A Visitation period will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. lasting until 8 P.M. Elder Mark Sutton will be officiating the services. Interment will take place at Polk Cemetery in Arcadia, Missouri.
